Charles E. Kirkwood, Jr., 82, of Edinburg, passed away the afternoon of February 28, 2019 at his residence. Born December 5, 1936 in New Castle, he was the son of Charles E. Kirkwood, Sr. and Mabel (Painter) Kirkwood. He is survived by his wife of nearly 51 years, Donna J. (Garrett) Kirkwood whom he married March 6, 1968. Charles was a Navy veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He was employed with Lane Metal Products until his retirement. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and coaching their baseball teams as well as watching their softball games and lifting competitions. Among his other interests were hunting, gardening, canning and love for his dog, Rosie. In addition to his wife Donna, he is survived by one daughter, Sandy Bromley of New Castle; one son, Charles E. Kirkwood, III and his wife Melanie of New Castle; two brothers, Carl Tuff Kirkwood and Harry Kirkwood both of New Castle; and four grandchildren, Philip Fava, Alex Kirkwood, Ryan Fava and Katherine Kirkwood. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Wayne Kirkwood; and one sister, Delores Kirkwood. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no visitation or service.
