Obituary

Charles C. McConahy, 90, formerly of Pleasant View Drive, passed away the morning of March 13, 2015 in Jameson Hospital. Born June 30, 1924 in New Castle, he was a son of William Patton McConahy and Mary Ella Houk McConahy . He was preceded in death on June 8, 2008 by his wife of 56 years, Doris Jean Fisher McConahy, whom he married April 25, 1952. A Shenango High School graduate, he was an Army veteran and served in the Marine Corps Reserves. Chuck retired from Penn Power Company after 35 years as an electrician. Prior, he was an independent truck driver. Among his many interests, he enjoyed camping, travel, and square dancing. Mr. McConahy was also licensed as a private pilot. He was a member of American Legion Post 343, the Mahoning Lodge, New Castle Consistory and Consistory Legion of Honor. He was a member of Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church in Ellwood City. He is survived by two sons and their wives, David W. and Mary Ann McConahy of Largo, Florida, and Douglas C. and Nancy McConahy of New Castle; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Paula Thompson, 2 brothers, Wilbur and Myrel McConahy and a sister, Margaret White. A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 17, at 2:00pm at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. Wilmington Road, New Castle. Conducted by Rev. Julia Williamson of Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church, Ellwood City. Burial will be in Harmony Baptist Cemetery. New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform military services at 2:00pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's charity of choice. Arrangements are by the R.
