Charles Lawrence Miller, age 91, of New Castle, passed away the early morning of June 25, 2026, at his residence.
Born February 23, 1935, in New Castle, he was the son of the late Willard and Gladys (Berry) Miller.
In 1959, Charles married Eleanor Jones, who preceded him in death in 1994. In 1997 he married Sherry A. Cagno Gibson, she survives at home.
Charles proudly served his country in the United States Marines Corps during the Korean War, attaining the rank of Corporal and serving from 1953 to 1956. Following his military service, he worked as a Bridge and Structural Iron Worker, and was a member of Iron Workers Union Local 207, until his retirement in 1997.
A man devoted to his faith, family, and community, Charles was a member of New Life Baptist Church and was active in numerous organizations throughout his lifetime. He was a 50-year member of the New Castle Scottish Rite Consistory where he served 22 years as Treasurer and attained his 33rd Masonic degree and the M.S.A. He was also a 50-year member of the Syria Shrine, Mahoning Masonic Blue Lodge of New Castle, and a member of the Scottish Rite Legion of Honor, where he served as past commander.
Charles was also a devoted life member of the NRA, The American Legion, and the Lawrence County Sportsman's Club.
In addition to his wife, survivors include one son, Gary (LeighAnn) Miller of New Castle, PA; stepdaughter, Amy Crocker of New Castle, PA; sister, Edith Majesky of New Castle, PA; three grandchildren, Jacob Crocker, Jessica (Alco) Lyles, and Evan (Melissa) Miller; and three great-grandchildren, Julian, AJ, and Jaxon Lyles.
Along with his former spouse, Eleanor, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James, and Daniel Miller and one sister, Bonnie Young.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 29th from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM, with a Masonic Service immediately following at 7:00 PM, at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
A second time of visitation will be held on Tues. June 30th from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM, at the funeral home with a funeral service immediately following at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Trent Stubrich of New Life Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial will be at Mt. Hermon Cemetery.
