Charles R. Withers, age 84, of New Castle, passed away the early morning of March 16, 2023, at UPMC Jameson Hospital.

Born May 11, 1938, in New Castle, he was the son of the late Samuel L. and Louise (Smith) Withers.

On Jan. 14, 1978, he married his beloved wife of 45 years, Patty (Ealy) Withers. She survives at home.

Charles attended Union Area Schools. For several years, he was employed by Carbon Limestone, until his retirement. He loved the outdoors and spending time with his family. Charles was a member of Washington Union Alliance Church, where he served as an Elder.

In addition to his wife, Charles is survived by one daughter, Juanita Wallace-Withers, of FL; six sons, Charles (Michelle) Withers, Jr., of FL, Jeremiah (Sally) Withers of Pulaski, PA, James R. (Erin) Withers of MI, Samuel R. (Trisha) Withers of New Castle, PA, Cory White of New Castle, PA, and Vernon Short of AK; two sisters, Nancy Walker of New Castle, PA, and Sandra Young of FL; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Sat. March 18th from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM at Washington Union Alliance Church, 2119 W. Washington St., New Castle, PA 16101.

A funeral service will take place following visitation, at 3:00 PM, at the church, with Pastor Landon Stuart, officiating.
