Obituary

Clarence "Paul" Barkley, 71, of 381 Brest Road, New Castle, passed away the morning of August 20, 2014 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio.Born August 17, 1943 in Mercer, PA., he was a son of Clarence Albert Barkley and Grace A. Uber Barkley.Paul is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Kathryn E. Hartman Barkley, whom he married June 25, 1966.He was a Mercer High School graduate and employed with Sawhill Tubular as a machine operator for 24 years, retiring in 1990.Among his many interest were hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Neshannock Lions Club.Paul was an active member of First Baptist Church where he had served as an usher, deacon, member of the van committee and the Sportsman Dinner committee.In addition to his wife Kathy, he is survived by his two daughters, Kris Barkley of Sharpsville, and Karen (Steve) Holler of Warren, Ohio; one brother, Chuck Barkley, of Florida; one sister, Winifred Barkley, of Mercer, PA; and two granddaughters, Kayleigh and Breanna Holler.He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ronald Barkley.Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2014, from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, and Sunday, August 24, 2014, from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 984 W. Maitland Lane, New Castle.A funeral service will take place on Sunday, August 24, 2014, immediately following visitation at 3:00 at First Baptist Church and will be officiated by Rev. John Yergan.Burial will be in Neshannock Cemetery, New Wilmington, PA.Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 984 W. Maitland Lane, New Castle, PA 16105 or the American Heart Association, 840 Southwestern Run, Youngstown, OH 44514.
