Clifford "Cliff" D. Carlson, 93, of Hermitage, passed away the evening of February 14, 2014 at the Greer House. Clifford was born on September 18, 1920, in New Castle, to the late Ralph and Edith Roberts Carlson. He married Mary Ellen Carlson, who preceded him in passing in December of 1985. Mr. Carlson was then married to Mildred "Millie" Phillips Carlson on July 9, 1988. Millie survives. Clifford was an insurance agent for Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company. He served his country while being stationed in India as a member of the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Carlson was an avid golfer, loved spending time in his garden and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Clifford is survived by his wife, Mildred; his daughter and son-in-law, Christine June Carlson Gallonio and David Gallonio of New Castle; two sons and one daughter-in-law, William R. and DeeAnn Carlson of Hilton Head, SC, Clifford John "Jack" Carlson of California; seven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in passing by three brothers and one sister. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2014, from 6-8 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Wilmington Rd. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Warren Sullivan from New Life Baptist will officiate. Burial will take place in Castle View Gardens.
