Dale "Moe" E. Gittings, 86, of West Pittsburg, died on Friday, Dec. 4, 2020, at UPMC Passavant while receiving treatment for COVID-19. Born Aug. 4, 1934, in New Castle, Pennnsylvania, he was the son of the late George and Perna C. (Cheek) Gittings. Moe retired from Youngstown Sheet and Tube/LTV after 30 years, but his lifelong passion was being in his garage working on cars. He had a keen mechanical mind. He also would do anything he could for whoever asked. Moe was blessed to have several great friends, was the best dad ever, and will be greatly missed. Survivors include a son, Jack Gittings; two daughters, Patty Jo (Henry) McClenahan and Jodi (David) Melillo; two grandchildren, Ty McClenahan and Nicole (Nick) Kulik; one great-grandchild, Lorenzo Kulik; and two sisters, Mary Ellen (Kenneth) Thompson of Stanford, Kentucky, and Betty Jane Jacobs of Elmira, New York. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Patricia A. Gittings; and his sister, Emma June Calhoun, formerly of Galloway, Ohio. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no services. Arrangements have been entrusted to the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. of New Castle. Moe's children greatly appreciate everyone who has touched his life and ask that no gifts of sympathy be given.
