Dan Zoltani, age 88, of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of August 12, 2015 at Clen-Moore Place. Born March 20, 1927 in New Castle, he was a son of John and Rose Simo Zoltani. He was preceded in death on June 17, 1997 by his wife of 47 years, Marjorie J. Book Zoltani, whom he married October 8, 1949. While attending New Castle High School, he served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. After his honorable discharge from the service, he attended and graduated from Youngstown State University. Dan was employed with Rockwell International as the plant accountant. Active with the Masonic organizations, he served with the Mahoning-New Castle Lodge #243, the New Castle Consistory, the Consistory Legion of Honor and the Syria Shrine. He was also a member of the American Legion, Perry Gaston Post. Enjoying the outdoors, Dan liked hunting, fishing, golf and gardening. He often enjoyed bowling as well as stamp and coin collecting. He was a member of Third Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his three daughters and their husbands; Debra and Howard Matthews and Ruthann and Gary Chiarini, all of New Castle, and Denise and Paul Callender of Ashtabula, Ohio; one sister and brother-in-law, Violet and Charles "Buddy" Mathieson of New Castle; 6 grandchildren, Andrew (Laura) Lepisto, Liisa Straw, Daniel (Vanessa) Callender, Dean Callender, Emily Matthews and Samantha (Albert) Grieve; 8 great grandchildren, Faith and Kate, Madelyn and Olivia, Adrianna, Gabrielle and Marcus, and Viktor. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Michael, John and Frank Zoltani. Visitation will be held on Friday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle, PA. A funeral service will take place on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with military rites being performed by the New Castle Area Honor Guard. Burial will be in Castle View Gardens.
