Daniel Ellis Gallatin, 68, of Harlansburg passed away Tuesday , May 7, 2013. He was born June, 3, 1944, to Ellis Quinn and Edith Mae Campbell Gallatin Stuart. He graduated from Mohawk High School, class of 1962. Daniel served in the U.S. Navy from 1962 to 1965. He retired in 1999 from Verizon after 33 years of service. Daniel was a long time member and twice past Master of Mahoning-New Castle Lodge #243. He was also a member of the New Castle Consistory, the Syria Shrine, Caravan #5, a charter member of Hiram's Scottish Riders Motorcycle Club and the American Legion. Daniel was a lifelong member of the Scott Township Volunteer Fire Company and a longtime member of the Harlansburg Presbyterian Church. He also served as the Scott Township Judge of Elections and was a proud member of the New Castle Area Honor Guard. Daniel is survived by his loving wife, Mary Lou (Scocchera) Gallatin; a son, Barry Gallatin and his wife Malinda of Elizabeth City, NC; a son, Brian Gallatin and wife Kara of Virginia Beach, VA; a daughter, Michelle Gallatin of Volant, PA, and her fiance' James Baughman of Polk, PA; three grandchildren, Daniel Gallatin and Jessica Gallatin, both of Elizabeth City, NC, and Hannah Gallatin of Virginia Beach, VA; a sister, Joyce Gleghorn and husband Dale of Georgetown, KY; a brother, Robert Gallatin and wife Pam of St. Augustine, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by a step-father, Archie Stuart.Visitation will be on Friday, May 10, 2013, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. from the funeral home with the Rev. Brady Randall officiating. Inurnment will be in Parkside Cemetery. Full military honors will be performed by the New Castle Area Honor Guard, along with honors from the Scott Township Volunteer Fire Company, Red Knights, and Hiram Riders.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Scott Township Volunteer Fire Company , 3712 Harlansburg Road, New Castle, PA 16101 or the New Castle Area Honor Guard, 209 Charlotte Lane, New Castle PA 16101.
