Obituary

Daniel Lobur Rennard, age 76, of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of Aug. 21, 2023, at his residence.

Born Oct. 1, 1946, in Oakmont PA, he was the son of the late Samuel W. and Olga (Lobur) Rennard.

On April 25, 1970, he married his wife of 45 years, Rose Mary (Lombardi) Rennard. She preceded him in death on Aug. 26, 2015.

Daniel was a 1964 graduate of Oakmont Junior/Senior High School. He then went on to earn his B.A. in Political Science from Grove City College. He was a highway inspector, employed by S.A.I. Consulting Engineers, for 27 years, until his retirement.

Mr. Rennard was drafted in the United States Army and faithfully served his country from 1968 –1970. He spent one year in the Republic of South Vietnam in Field Artillery, and advanced to the position of Section Chief. Upon his return to the United States, he was chosen as a driver for Battery Commander, and later represented the Battalion for the Post Flag Honors Team and Military Funeral Detail. Daniel received the National Defense Service Medal, The Vietnam Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon with 3 Campaign Stars, 2 overseas bars, and the expert badge for M-16 qualification.

He was a member of the of the Lawrence County Sportsman's Club where he enjoyed target shooting. He was an avid reader and enjoyed keeping up with politics as well as current events.

Mr. Rennard is survived by his children, son, Michael D. Rennard of Cranberry Twp., PA, and daughter, Jennifer L. Rennard, of West View, PA; and one brother, William S. (Barbara) Rennard of Altamonte Springs, FL.

Visitation will be held on Thurs. Aug. 24th from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.

Immediately following visitation, the New Castle Area Honor Guard will be performing military rites at noon. Following the military rites, Pastor Nathan Snode will officiate the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be offered to the New Castle Area Honor Guard, 3206 Penny Lane, New Castle, PA 16105.
