Danielle DeVaux Lewis, 39, of New Castle, passed away the morning of August 29, 2014 at Jameson Hospital after a 5 year battle with malignant melanoma.Born October 4, 1974 in Youngstown, Ohio, she is the daughter of J. Ross Taylor and Juliann Johnston Taylor of New Castle.Surviving at home is her husband, Todd A. Lewis, whom she married on May 20, 2000.Danielle graduated from Neshannock High School in 1993 and was a graduate of Slippery Rock University.She was employed for five years as an office manager with Frank B. Taylor Engineering in New Castle.Danielle had a great talent in music, singing, playing the piano, and karaoke. She was very active in fund raising for the Pittsburgh Symphony. She enjoyed frequenting the Pittsburgh Pirate games, the theater, and spending time occasionally in New York City. Danielle was also a freelance writer for various area publications.Danielle had a love for all animals, and in addition to being greatly missed by her family and friends, she will be missed by her cat "Simon" and her sissy, "Lovey".She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Church.In addition to her parents and her husband, she is survived by one brother, Royce DeVaux Taylor of New Castle; her three nieces, whom she loved spending time with, Marguerite, Genevieve and Gabrielle; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gerald A. and Mary Ann Lewis of New Castle; and two brothers-in-law, James M. Lewis of Pittburgh, and Christopher J. Lewis of Los Angeles, Calif.She was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Amy Taylor.Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014, at 12:00 at St. Joseph the Worker Church, 1111 S. Cascade Street, New Castle and will be officiated by Father Frank Almade.Memorial contributions may be made to the Lawrence County Humane Society, PO Box 62, New Castle, PA 16101 or Promises for Pets, PO Box 621, New Castle, PA 16103.
