Danny L. Smolnik, age 68, of New Castle, passed away the evening of Jan. 14, 2025, at UPMC Jameson Hospital.

Born Aug. 29, 1956, in New Castle, PA, he was the son of the late Emil Earl and Patricia Ann (Jones) Smolnik.

Danny was a graduate of Neshannock High School. He was employed by Blair Strip Steel Company, working as a maintenance foreman, until his retirement. Danny enjoyed camping, sports, smoking and cheering on the Union High School football team.

Survivors include his brother, James 'Jim' E. (Jill) Smolnik of New Castle, PA; two nieces, Emily Smolnik and Jami Smolnik; one nephew, Jeffrey Smolnik; his companion, Cynthia Micco of New Castle, PA; and Heather Strickler and Dustin Micco, whom he loved like his own children.

In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by his sister, Lynn Ann Bruno, and his son, Joshua Lee Smolnik.

Visitation will be held on Monday, Jan. 20th from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.

A memorial service will be held immediately following visitation, at the funeral home at 4:00 PM, with the Rev. Richard Nero, officiating.
