Darlene L. Kent, 82, W. Moody Avenue, went to be with the Lord the afternoon of June 8, 2017 at her residence.
Born December 24, 1934 in New Castle, she was the daughter of Paul E. and Geneva L. Gerlach Baxter.
She was preceded in death in 1991 by her husband, Chester C. Kent, whom she married October 20, 1951.
A graduate of New Castle High School, Darlene was employed in the office of Fishers Big Wheel where she assisted in data entry, accounts payable and accounts receivable. She had also worked at the Lawrence County Courthouse for 3 years.
Darlene served as treasurer for the tenants council at Lawrence Manor. She enjoyed country music, playing the accordion and calling square dances.
She was a member of Victory Christian Center, New Castle campus.
She is survived by three daughters, Kimberlee R. (Thomas G.) Hanna and Marilyn Sue (Scott) McLaren all of New Castle, Kathleen L. (Thomas) Golden of Pulaski; two sons, Edward C. (Annette) Kent and Terry W. Kent both of Florida; one brother, Raymond P. (Edna) Baxter of Florida; four sisters, Marilyn E. Heath of New Castle, Carol L. (Robert) Sanchez of Idaho; Virginia R. (John) Murphy of Florida and Noreen D. (M. John) Abraham of Edinburg; 25 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Raymond J. Kent and Russell F. Kent; a daughter-in-law, Pamela Kent; 3 great-grandchildren, Dorothy C. Rhodes, Robin N. Rhodes and Dominick J. Stull; and her beloved dog, Ginger.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at Victory Christian Center, 2009 N. Mercer Street, New Castle.
A Memorial Service will take place immediately following visitation Monday at 5:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Alonzo Waters officiating.
