David K. Bessell, 73, formerly of Shenango Township, went home with Jesus the evening of February 21, 2020 with his loving wife and son by his side.
Born September 19, 1946 in New Castle, he was the son of Alvi and Francis (Shoaff) Bessell.
He married his best friend of 16 years, the former Jackie Wright who survives.
After his graduation from Shenango High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps serving his country in Vietnam.
David managed and took impeccable care of the Savannah Cemetery for 30 years. He loved being outdoors and was a skilled marksman, an avid hunter, and had a special talent in gunsmithing. David was a trustworthy and faithful husband and friend. He was loved and respected by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife Jackie, David is survived by a son, David Bessell, Jr.; three stepchildren, Jason Wright, Jeremy Iorio, and Kellie Moore; two sisters, Beverly (James) Gettings and Shirley Dinsmore; two brothers-in-law, Dan Wright and Roger Wright; one grandson, Brett Bessell; 11 step-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins that loved him dearly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife Carol Kidd and two brothers, Ronald Bessell and Thomas Bessell.
In keeping with Dave's wishes, there will be no calling hours. A private service will take place at the convenience of the family.
