David A. Bruner, 93, of New Castle, passed away the night of January 21, 2020 at UPMC Jameson Hospital.
Born August 21, 1926 in Franklin, PA, he was the son of Frank and Gladys (Brenneman) Bruner.
David was preceded in death by his first wife, Rita (Tuck) Bruner and he subsequently married his second wife, Darlene (Beros) Bruner who survives at home.
David served his country as a Sergeant in the US Army Air Corps during WWII, serving in France.
He was employed with Universal Rundle for 49 years until his retirement. He enjoyed golf and yard work. A member of First Baptist Church, he served as a former deacon and Sunday School teacher. Dave was a prayer warrior who prayed daily for his family, young people and college students.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Jennifer Middendorf and Susan Fray of New Castle, and Beth (Jim) Booze of Darlington, PA; one step-daughter, Candy Wiechman of Michigan; two step-sons, Rodney Newell of Ellwood City and David (Beth) Beros of Struthers, OH; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Rita; one brother, Neal Bruner; and two sons-in-law, Samuel Fray and David Middendorf.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 26, from 2:00-5:00 and Monday from 10:00-11:00 at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation Monday at 11:00 at the funeral home with the Rev. John Yergan officiating.
Full military honors will be performed by the New Castle Area Honor Guard.
Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
