David Harris, 91, of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of April 2, 2011 in Jameson Hospital.Born September 9, 1919, in New Castle, he was a son of David G. and Mabel E. Fox Harris. He married Jean P. Pawley on March 9, 1946. They celebrated 65 happy years together.He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army during WWII.David was a self employed farmer in Mt. Jackson for thirty seven years. He also worked in the Mohawk Schools as a custodian for ten years.He was a member of Mt. Jackson Presbyterian Church.In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Susan J. Weigle of Rockford, IL and Janet H. Fierst of Portland, OR; one son, David J. Harris of New Castle; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two step great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, Barbara Ann Harris; and one sister, Marjorie Daugherty.A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road. The Rev. Elizabeth McCormick will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made to Mt.
