Obituary

David L. Kish, age 91, formerly of Shenango Township, passed away the afternoon of May 27, 2018 at Grove Manor in Grove City, PA. Born July 18, 1926 in New Castle, he was the son of Balint and Mary Frcska Kish. Surviving in Grove City is his beloved wife of 65 years, Corrine Fetherlin Kish, whom he married July 12, 1952. A 1944 graduate of New Castle High School, he attended Mount Union College and also the Clearfield Aviation Institute. Mr. Kish served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy on the USS McGowan as a radioman and was recalled during the Korean Conflict on the USS LST602. He was an insurance agent for 31 years with Prudential Insurance Company until his retirement. David had a love for music as evidenced by his being part of the Christian Couriers Quartet for 30 years, as well as singing in the church choir at First Baptist Church over 55 years. As a member of First Baptist he served as a former deacon and trustee. Among other interests, Dave also enjoyed hunting and spending time at Camp Apamnak. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. In addition to his wife Corrine, he is survived by three sons and their wives, David and Lani Kish of Gig Harbor, WA, Paul and Brenda Kish of Salem, Ohio, and Stephen and Shelley Kish of Volant, PA; one daughter and her husband, Marybeth and Jude Harrington of Huntingdon, PA; eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Julia Ter Linden and Grace Simpson; and one brother, Val Kish. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 7, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A funeral service will take place on Friday, June 8, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. John Yergan officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of David to the Grove Manor Activities Fund, 435 N. Broad Street, Grove City, PA 16127.
