David M. Steingasser, age 74, of New Castle, passed away the morning of December 10, 2018 at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born April 21, 1944, in New Castle, he was the son to John C. and Mary (Johnston) Steingasser. He married Carol (Nice) Steingasser, who preceded him in death on August 30, 1989. He subsequently married Kathleen Derekos on May 4, 1991. She survives at home.
David was a 1962 graduate of Neshannock High School. He worked at FA Cray Company and then went on to work at Aven Fire Systems, retiring in 2006. David loved cars. He was known as the car Cruisemaster. David also was an avid cook. What brought him the most joy in life, was spending time with his family and his car cruise buddies.
Along with his wife, David is survived by four daughters; Jill (Jim) Smolnik of New Castle, PA, Tracy (Bill) Smith of Little Hocking, OH, Amy Heasley of Youngstown, OH, Sarah Steingasser of Austintown, OH, one sister; Joyce (Gary) Dodge of New Castle, four grandchildren; Jami and Jeffrey Smolnik of New Castle, Stephan and Taylor Heasley of Struthers, OH, one great-granddaughter; Layla Cragle, and nephew; Michael (Michele) Dodge and great niece; Elie.
Preceding him in death are his parents and first wife.
Visitation will be held this Thursday, December 13, from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 pm, and Friday, December 14, from 10:00 - 11:00 am, at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A funeral service will be held immediately following visitation on Friday at 11:00 AM with Chip Chamberlain, officiating.
Burial will be at Oak Park Cemetery.
