David W. Taylor, 85, of Union Township, passed away the evening of February 6, 2013 at Overlook Medical Clinic. Born August 22, 1927, in New Castle, he was the son of Jonathan & Ruth Swanson Taylor Sr.He married the former Lavinia Floyd on December 15, 1948. She passed away November 18, 2002. David was a graduate of New Castle Business School, Motorola Training Institute and ATES (American Television Electronics School). He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from December 1945 - May 1947 in Europe and Germany with the rank of PFC. David was employed as a senior communications technician at Penn Power retiring in 1988 after 40 years of service. A sports fan, he enjoyed bowling and football, was a life member of Eagles Club #455 and past president of Penn Power Men's Club. David was a member of New Castle Bible Church. Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Lynn Taylor of New Castle; a son, Robert J. and Kathy Taylor of New Castle; a brother, Jonathan Taylor Jr. of Sacramento, CA; two sisters, Ruth Augostine of Beaver Falls, and Carol Gramsky of New Castle; four grandchildren; and one great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; three brothers; and five sisters. Visitation will be Friday, February 8, 2013, from 12-1 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Rd. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Rev. Max Bungard will officiate.
