David John Wilson, age 77, of New Castle, PA, passed away the early morning of April 11, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Hospital.
Born Aug. 2, 1948, in Warren, OH, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (McGowan) Wilson.
He was married to Carol (Dubosky) Wilson for 55 wonderful years, where she resides at home.
David earned his bachelor's degree from YSU in 1971. He then went on to earn his master's degree, in education, from Kent State University graduating in 1986.
Retiring from a vast career in education, spanning over 35 years, Mr. Wilson was a beloved educator. He spent most of his career at Southington Local Schools, where he was a teacher, football coach, and principal. After that, he went on to work for Newton Falls Exempted Schools, where he was a principal and eventually retired as a Superintendent.
Golfing, watching Ohio State Football and the Pittsburgh Penguins, traveling, and going on cruises, were some of his favorite hobbies. Most importantly was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Carol, survivors include his children and their spouses, Patrick Wilson (Jennifer Wilson), Joseph Wilson (Sara Wilson) and Dawn Wilcox; his grandchildren, Savanna Wilcox, Christopher Wilcox, Louisa Wilson, Benton Wilson, Josephine Wilson, Ava Wilson, and Harper Wilson; and his great-grandchildren, Braxton Sidley, and Leah Sidley.
Along with his parents, David was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Wilson, and Robert Wilson.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 15th from 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home, & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
A funeral service will be held immediately following visitation at 11:30 AM with Deacon John, officiating.
A private burial will be at Vaughn Cemetery, in Lake Milton, OH.
