Debra S. Vitale, 66, of New Castle passed away the afternoon of April 5, 2017 at Allegheny General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She won her peace and tranquility and went to the Lord God Almighty.
Born in New Castle on December 26, 1950, she was a daughter of Brinley and Dolores Flansburg Whiteside.
On February 27, 1982 she married Joseph C. Vitale. He survives her at home.
Debra was a homemaker and for eight years was a caregiver to her mother-in-law, Rosemarie Vitale. She was always ready to help another person in need and also loved rescuing animals from harm. She enjoyed yard work and cooking. Famous for her peanut butter fudge, she made all the holiday dinners for her family. She will be sadly missed by anyone who came in contact with her.
Besides her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Jennie Vitale of Ft. Myers, FL; one sister, Lynn Heaney of New Castle; two brothers-in-law, Michael (Patty) Vitale and Patsy (Deanna) Vitale, both of New Castle; one granddaughter, Sophia Raybuck; three nephews, Brian (Rhonda) Heaney, Shawn (Christy) Heaney, and Aaron (Thea) Vitale, all of New Castle; and two nieces, Kayla and Amanda Vitale of New Castle. Debra is also survived by great nieces, great nephews, and one great great niece.
Preceding her in death are her parents; as well as her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Rosemarie and Nunzio Vitale.
In keeping with Debra's request, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Burial will be in St. Lucy's cemetery.
