Delmer J. Ralston, 81, of New Castle, passed away the morning of April 19, 2013 in the Jameson Memorial Hospital. He was born on February 13, 1932, in New Castle, to the late Ellis and Mary Jane Grossman Ralston. Mr. Ralston worked as a brakeman for the railroad, an instructor at Vocational Schools in New Kensington, Johnstown and Monaca and also owned his own heating and air conditioning business. Delmer was a veteran of the US Army serving as a drill sergeant, during the Korean War. He completed his studies as a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. Mr. Ralston had many passions including piloting airplanes, riding motorcycles, hunting and archery, driving trucks and was a computer enthusiast. Delmer was a member of First Assembly of God. He is survived by his two daughters, Doreen Chastain and Lori Ralston, both of New castle; three sons, Gary Ralston of Pittsburgh, Ken Ralston of New Castle, Scott Ralston of Ashtabula, OH; one brother, Scott Ralston of Florida; one sister, Florence Ridenbaugh of New Castle; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Mr. Ralston is preceded in passing by his parents; one sister, Maxine Fitzgerald and one grandson Bruce Ralston. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, from 12-1 pm with a memorial service following at 1:00 pm at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Rd. The Rev. Kenneth Meyer will conduct the service.
