Denise Louise Houk, age 63, of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of June 17, 2020. Born Aug. 17, 1956, in Rochester, Pa., she was the daughter of Anthony and Patricia (Marshall) Spagnola. On March 18, 1973 she married her beloved husband Gary Houk. He survives at home. Denise was a graduate of Laurel High School. She enjoyed going to the casino, gardening, sudoku, crocheting and reading. What Denise treasured the most in life, was spending time with her family. In addition to her husband Gary, Denise is survived by her father, Anthony Spagnola of New Castle; two sons, Steve (Amy) Houk of New Castle, Jeremy (Krystle) Houk of Volant; one sister, Gwen (Jim) Robinson of Cleveland; mother-in-law, Ellen Houk and three grandchildren, Grace and Matt Houk of New Castle, and Riley Barger of Volant. Denise was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia Spagnola and her father-in-law, Gerald Houk. Visitation will be held on Sat. June 20th from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A service will take place immediately after visitation at 4:00 PM with Pastor Ron Nagel officiating.
