Dennis Brophy, 65, of New Castle, passed away on May 10, 2017 at his residence. Born in New Castle on December 27, 1951, he was a son of John D. Brophy, Sr. and Vera Cubbal Brophy. A graduate of New Castle High School, he then earned a business management degree at Youngstown State University. He was employed at Universal Rundle Corporation. His favorite pastimes included hunting and fishing. He was a member of Croton United Methodist Church. Survivors include his daughter, Lori (Matt) Beck of Clayton, GA; two brothers, Joseph Brophy of New Castle and John D. Brophy, Jr. of Clayton, GA; and three sisters, Vera Angelo, Carrie Marshall, and Kathy Rees, all of New Castle. Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Edward P. Brophy and Gary Paul Brophy; and a sister, Cheryl Brophy. Visitation will be from 2-4 on Friday at R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A memorial service will be held immediately following visitation Friday at 4:00 PM with Pastor Michael Long of Croton United Methodist Church officiating.
