Diana Marie Hooper Weatherby, 76, of New Castle passed away during the afternoon of Saturday, July 2, 2016, at UPMC-Jameson Hospital.
Born on April 9, 1940, in Altoona, she was a daughter of Calvin Austin Hooper and Frances Majchrzak Hooper.
On Jan. 3, 1959, Diana was married to Wayne L. Weatherby, her husband of 55 years, who preceded her in death.
A 1958 graduate of Laurel High School, Diana also attended Slippery Rock University.
Diana worked for more than 10 years as secretary to the president of Lawrence Savings and Trust.
Diana was a majority member of the International Order of Rainbows.
A natural-born artist, she loved drawing, painting and, most of all, ceramics. She also ran a successful ceramics business allowing her talents to be shared with many students. Diana was an arts exhibit judge for the Lawrence County Fair and a member of 4H.
Her interests also included travel, gardening, gourmet cooking, hunting and boating. In her younger years, Diana was voted Ms. Outdoor Girl of America and Ms. Uniroyal.
She was a longtime member of Highland Presbyterian Church.
Diana is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Michelle Weatherby Conard and Shirl Wayne Conard.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Burial will follow in Oak Park Cemetery.
