Diane L. "Dizee" Edwards, 68, of Slippery Rock Township, New Castle, passed away the afternoon of November 4, 2021, at UPMC Jameson Hospital. Born March 16, 1953, in New Castle, she was the daughter of Ruthford M. and Sylvia B. (Kehna) Owens. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Ronald H. Edwards, whom she married January 13, 1973. Diane was a graduate of New Castle High School and employed with the Speers Employment Agency where she coordinated the hiring and staffing for 20 years. She was a beloved wife, mother and friend. Her most valued time was spent watching over the many children in our family, and friends that became family. We knew her best as the selfless, kind person who always did for others. She enjoyed sunsets, time with her family, cooking, baking and old westerns. In addition to her husband, she is survived by four sons, Matthew (Carrie) Edwards of Lewisburg, WV, Mark (Danielle) Edwards of Ellwood City, Brian Edwards and Blaine (Katie) Edwards all of New Castle; one brother, Paul Owens of New Castle; seven grandchildren, Delaney and Rylee Edwards of West Virginia, Reese and Aubrey Edwards of Ellwood City, Liam Edwards of New Castle and Alyse and Clayton Edwards of New Castle. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Phillip Owens, and one nephew, Kurt Owens. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 8, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Ron Nagel officiating.
