On Friday, March 28, 2014, Dolores Elaine (Urmson) Pence, 86, died peacefully in God's eternal hands, in Jameson Memorial Hospital, New Castle.She was born September 22, 1927 in Sharon, PA to Harry and Mildred Urmson, who preceded her in death.She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Lee D. Pence, Sr. and four children; Lee Pence, Jr., Linda (Kohlenberg) Calhoun and husband Bruce, Karen Peterson, and Kevin Pence and wife Anne; one brother, Darwin Urmson of North Carolina, and his son Linn; nine grandchildren, Kelly Mahoney, Brian Kohlenberg,Doug Pence, Steven Pence, Erik Peterson, Adam Pence, Jens Peterson, Matthew Pence, and Josh Pence; and seven great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson in 1995, Danny Pence.She was a very talented musician. As a young child she took piano lessons, then was taught to play the violin, organ, trombone, guitar, harmonica and could yodel with the best of them. After she graduated from high school she played trombone in the Greenville Symphony in Greenville, PA. Soon after, she entered a talent show at the New Castle Cathedral and won first prize which was a $25 war bond with the added privilege of singing with "Grandpa Jones".The most important thing in Dolores' life was her beloved family.She drove school bus for Laurel School District over 30 years and was blessed to have four of her grandchildren on her bus route.Dolores purchased her first 35 mm camera over 35 years ago and was a member of the New Castle and New Wilmington Camera Clubs. She earned many honors with her photographs she took on her travels across country, and of her grandchildren.She loved to travel with her close friends, enjoyed the country side and meeting new people from around the world during her annual trips. She enjoyed attending flea markets, yard sales, and auctions, searching for unique gifts for her family.Dolores loved the outdoors and was an avid deer hunter her entire married life, as recently as last fall.She will be greatly missed by her entire family and friends.At her request, there will be no calling hours. A private memorial service was held Sunday for family and close friends.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lawrence County Humane Society, PO Box 62, New Castle, PA 16103.Arrangements are by the R.
