Donabelle Thompson, age 90, formerly of Neshannock Township passed away the morning of June 4, 2017 at Shenango Presbyterian Senior Care in New Wilmington.
Born in Alliance, Ohio on October 30, 1926, she was a daughter of Leonard and Edith Reed Saylor.
In 1944, she married Bernard F. Thompson. They were married for 67 years when he preceded her in death on December 16, 2011.
A graduate of New Castle High School, Mrs. Thompson then became a homemaker who lovingly cared for her family. She enjoyed baking, playing bridge and golfing at Borland's. She was a member of the Jameson Hospital Board and Jameson Junior Guild, where she was a past president. She was also a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church and served as a deaconess.
Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Sherry Lanz of Juneau, Alaska and Barbara and Gary Travis of Massillon, Ohio; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Bernard Thompson and Jane Woodyard of Bainbridge Island, Washington and Thomas Thompson and Martha Griffin of Birmingham, Alabama; four grandchildren, Graham Lanz, Mandy Simmons, Todd Travis and Cory Travis; and four great grandchildren, Kaylee, Jonathan, Addy and Cora.
Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 1-3 pm at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
A funeral service will be held immediately following visitation at 3:00 pm at the funeral home with Rev. Andrew Jillson officiating.
Burial will take place in Castle View Memorial Park.
