Donald L. Brooks, age 88 of New Castle, passed away the evening of Jan. 15, 2021 at Quality Life Services New Castle. Born Nov. 2, 1932, in New Castle, he was the son of the late Merle and Sylvia (Gerber) Brooks. He married Kathryn (Theiss) Brooks on March 17, 1990. She survives at home. Donald was a 1950 graduate of New Castle High School. He served his country in the Unites States Army. Donald retired from the CSX Railroad Company and was an Eagles Club officer for nine years, where he was a Golden Eagle. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and hunting, so much so, that he never missed a hunting season for 65 years in a row. In addition to his wife, Kathryn, Donald is survived by two daughters, Dixie Marshall, and Donna (Vern) Sipe, both of New Castle; four grandsons, Vern Sipe, Jr., Derek Brooks, Todd Brooks, Jr., and Devin Brooks; two stepchildren, Paul W. Passerrello and Annette Morgan; and seven great grandchildren. Along with his parents, Donald is preceded in death by one son, Todd Brooks, son-in-law, David L. Marshall, and two brothers, Merle & Joseph Brooks. Visitation and services will be private. Arrangements have been entrusted to the R.
