Donald R. Bumgardner, 77, of New Castle, passed away the morning of January 16, 2020 at UPMC Jameson Hospital.
Born October 6, 1942 in Derry Township, Mifflin County, PA, he was the son of Warren Guy Bumgardner and Florence (Shaffer) Bumgardner.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sandra (Crill) Bumgardner whom he married November 28, 1964.
A graduate of Lewistown High School, Don received his Bachelor's degree from Shippensburg University.
Don was employed at the Youth Development Center for 30 years as a counselor. He also worked with Zambelli Fireworks, Pyrotecnico Fireworks and Lovell Upholstery.
Among his many interests, Don enjoyed model trains, antiques, woodworking and remodeling his home. He was a member of Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Douglas Bumgardner of New Ellenton, SC and David Bumgardner of Denver, CO; a son-in-law, James Grove of Boiling Springs, PA; one sister, Faye Gross of Lewistown, PA; three grandchildren, Benjamin (Madison) Grove of Georgia, Jeremy Grove and Anna Grove both of Boiling Springs, PA; and one great-grandson, Jackson Grove.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, W. Guy Bumgardner; one son, Matthew Bumgardner; and one daughter, Jennifer Bumgardner Grove.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 25, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church, 220 Clen-Moore Blvd, New Castle, PA.
A Memorial Service will take place immediately following visitation at 11:00 with Pastor Michael Spicuzza officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery.
