Donald R. Ritzert, 65, of New Castle passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family the night of May 24, 2017, at VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler, Pa. Born in Grove City on Dec. 7, 1951, he was the son of Herman and Agnes McKinnon Ritzert. On May 27, 2011, Don married Shirley A. Janovick. She survives him at home. Mr. Ritzert was employed by Pennsylvania American Water Company. He enjoyed golfing, NASCAR and spending time with his family and bringing laughter to everyone. Besides his mother and wife, survivors include two daughters, Tracy (Mark) Meanor of Cranberry Township and Tonia (Brett) Latimer of New Castle; a son, Kevin Ritzert of Nashville, Tenn.; two stepdaughters, Michelle (Greg) Morrison of Hilton Head, S.C., and Melanie (Steve) Demofonte of New Castle; one brother, Mike (Janis) Ritzert of Ellwood City; four sisters, Linda (Scott) Keller of Valencia, Pa., Patricia Badger and Mary Ann Frampton, both of North Carolina, and Janet (Dale) Schreffler of Portersville; and 10 grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his father and a brother, Bill Ritzert. As per Don's request there will be no calling hours or funeral service. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
