Obituary

Donald Paul Warsing, Sr., age 87, of New Castle, passed away the late afternoon of April 17, 2023, at Shenango on the Green.

Born October 30, 1935, in Rose Point, Pa., he was the son of the late Thomas and Mildred (Horvwalt) Warsing. He married Carol Ann Biondi, on March 28, 1959. Carol Ann, a devoted Catholic, went to be with her Savior on Jan. 16, 2006. He subsequently married Joan Lee (Abbott) Koski Warsing on June 14, 2008. She survives.

Donald graduated from New Castle High School in 1953. He faithfully served in the U.S. Navy in active duty from Jan. 1954 to Oct. 1957, when he was honorably discharged as a second-class petty officer. After serving his country, Donald went to Youngstown University, graduating in 1964 with a degree in accounting. He was employed by the U.S. Government as an IRS Agent and auditor for the U.S. General Accounting Office, where he retired after 30 years of service, on Oct. 30, 1990. Donald enjoyed fishing, sports, exercise and browsing the internet. He was a member of Challenges, Options in Aging, and Trinity Episcopal Church.

Donald is survived by two daughters, Tamara Warsing Thimm (James Dahlby) of Hayward, WI, Jodi (Jonathan) Glem of Mentor, OH; one son, Dr. Donald P. Warsing, Jr. (Mary) of Raleigh, NC; one brother, James (Barbara) Warsing of New Castle; one sister, Judy (Ron) White of Naples, FL.; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Along with his parents and first wife, Carol Ann, Donald was preceded in death by one brother, Jack Thomas Warsing, one sister, Mary Ann Thomas and a brother-in-law, Ron Thomas, and a son-in-law, Tom Thimm

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 23rd from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.

A funeral service will take place on Monday, April 24th at 10:00 AM at Trinity Episcopal Church, 212 N. Mill Street, with The Rev. Erin L. Betz Shank officiating.

Burial will be at Parkside Cemetery, with full military honors given by the New Castle Area Honor Guard.
