Donna Jean Ashton, age 96, formerly of Delaware Avenue and Lawrence Manor, passed away peacefully at The Grove at New Wilmington on January 17, 2018. Born January 6, 1922 she was the daughter of Harry E. and Lillie Makepeace Ashton. She had been a devoted caregiver to her mother, and previously was employed as a nurses aide for Shenango Presbyterian Home, and as a clerk for Troutmans and Steiners. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mabel Ashton George. Her nephew Robert J. George recently passed away, and Donna is survived by his children, her great-nieces Lisa (Tom) Jurina and Diana Show of New Castle, and great-nephew Robert J. George, Jr. (Annie) of Riverside, AL. Donna will be remembered for her pleasant demeanor and easy laughter and will be missed by friends, family and caregivers. Listening to music was a favorite pastime, and she was proud of her lifetime collection of record albums. She was blessed and sustained by her faith, and had been an active member of Maitland Memorial Primitive Methodist Church. She had also attended the Church of God. Visitation will be Sunday, January 21 from 3 to 5 pm at Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road. A funeral service will follow, officiated by Rev.
