Donna J. Mitten, 66, of Pulaski, passed away the morning of January 8, 2014 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. Born May 4, 1947 in Ellwood City, PA, she was a daughter of the late James Fisher who preceded her in death at an early age. She was raised by her step father, Frank DePaolo, and her mother who survives, Mary Gongaware DePaolo. Donna was preceded in death on December 12, 2010 by her husband of 38 years, Lewis G. Mitten, whom she married May 6, 1972. She was a 1965 graduate of New Castle High School. Donna was an interpreter for the hearing impaired with the Mid-Western Intermediate Unit for 15 years. Prior, she was employed by Bell Telephone as a switchboard operator. Donna was an artist, having a talent for painting. She also enjoyed watching cooking shows, but mostly loved the time she spent with her family. A member of First Baptist Church, she attended many Bible study groups. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Marcie and Evan Lambert of Pulaski, PA; one son, Jeffrey V. Mitten of Norristown, PA; four sisters, Francine Miller of New Castle, Denise DePaolo of Texas, Jackie Diezman of Ravenna, Ohio, and Janet Welch of Shiloh, Ohio; and two granddaughters, Alexis and Alexandra Lambert. She was preceded by her father and step-father. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 13, 2014, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 984 W. Maitland Lane, New Castle, and will be officiated by Rev. John Yergan.
