Donna M. Nero, 68, of New Castle, passed away the morning of April 2, 2018, after a lengthy battle with breast cancer at the home of her sisters surrounded by her loving family.
Born October 13, 1949 in Nanty Glo, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Charles M. and Ruth A. Shaffer Cook.
Donna was employed with UPMC Jameson Hospital in the Environmental Services Department.
She enjoyed participating in Bingo but mostly loved spending time with her family, enjoying family gatherings and her beloved dog, Katie.
She is survived by one son, Samuel A. Nero, III and his wife Janell of New Castle; five brothers, David, James, and Charles Kordish, and Michael and Gary Cook all of New Castle; three sisters, Caroline and Janice Cook and Tammy Pauline all of New Castle; and three grandchildren, Joseph, Joshua and Amber Nero.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Samuel Nero and four brothers, Robert, George, Ronald and Moe Kordish.
There will be a brief one hour visitation on Thursday from 12:00-1:00 prior to the funeral service at 1:00 at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. The Rev. William Rupert will officiate.
Burial will be in Castle View Gardens.
