Dora D. Dordean Shaffer, 76, of New Castle, passed away the afternoon on December 15, 2017 at UPMC Jameson Hospital. Born August 31, 1941 in Leburn, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Richard and Emma Sloan Owens. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Paul R. Shaffer, whom she married November 5, 1963. A 1959 graduate of Laurel High School, Dora was a homemaker. She enjoyed reading, flowers and nature. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Richard W. (Deborah) Gibson of New Castle and Paul R. Shaffer, Jr. of Bryans Road, Maryland; two sisters, Irene Smith of New Castle and Patty Richards of Tennessee; and two grandchildren, Adam Gibson and Stephanie Gibson. She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers, McKinley Mac Owens, Howard Kelly Owens, Frank Owens; and 1 sister, Darlene Messner.
