Doreen Y. Hoover, 72, of Neshannock Township passed away the afternoon of June 4, 2020 at her son's residence in New Castle. Born on August 15, 1947 in New Castle, she was a daughter of Charles G. and Luella R. 'Becky' (Black) Lewis. She was preceded in death on August 14, 2010 by her husband of 22 years, LeRoy Dale Hoover, whom she married December 5, 1987. A graduate of New Castle High School, she continued her education at the New Castle Business School. Doreen was the Administrative Assistant to the Director for 28 years with Challenges-Options in Aging until her retirement. After retirement, she worked for the Hoyt Art Center. She was an active volunteer at the Crisis Shelter of Lawrence County and the Head Start program in New Castle. In addition to her membership with the PA Association of Notaries and the Association of Women in Computers, Doreen was a member of the New Castle Business and Professional Women's Advocacy Group. Doreen was a member of Shenango Presbyterian Church and also enjoyed attending New Life Baptist. Among her many interests, she enjoyed target shooting, fishing, computers and reading. She most enjoyed traveling with grandchildren Emily and Jacob on road trips. She loved the time spent with her grandchildren and great granddaughter, as well as her grandoggie, Gracie. She is survived by three sons, Gary (Katie) Sizer of Asheville, NC; James (Michelle) Sizer and Richard (Jennifer) Hoover all of New Castle; one daughter, Jennifer Lynn Hoover of New Castle; one sister, Nancy Lewis of Beaver Falls; 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; and her former husband, Gary L. Sizer. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, David Lewis and one sister, Laurie Malone. Visitation will be held Saturday, June 13 from 10:00-12:00 followed immediately by a memorial service at noon at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road. Pastor John Bailey will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery.
