Doris P. Gardner, 81, of Moody Avenue, passed away the morning of September 21, 2017 at UPMC Jameson Hospital. Born August 25, 1936 in Apollo, PA, she was the daughter of Elmer F. Grimm and Mary Elizabeth Hamilton Grimm. She was preceded in death in 1962 by her husband, Carl Leo Gardner, whom she married April 12, 1956. Doris attended Ben Franklin Junior High School. She was employed in the laundry department at Jameson Hospital and was also a waitress at Hazels Restaurant and P.O. Lunch. She enjoyed reading and playing cards, and was a member of Ellwood City Free Methodist Church. She is survived by her son, Dennis E. Gardner of New Castle; two brothers, Thomas Grimm of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Kenneth Grimm of Polk, PA; one sister, Shirley Warsing of Summerville, North Carolina; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Gary Lee Grimm. There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Service will take place on Tuesday at 6 PM at the R.
