Doris Jean Mitchell, 86, of Sunnyside Road, New Castle, passed away the afternoon of November 9, 2015 at her residence. Born September 14, 1929 in Wagoner, Oklahoma, she was a daughter of Evert and Pearl Piersall Stacy. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, William K. Mitchell, whom she married January 23, 1947. A graduate of Wagoner High School, Doris was a manager of apartment complexes for 27 years in Oklahoma, retiring in 1994. She was a life master bridge player, and a member of First United Methodist Church. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Sandra K. (Tom) Patterson of Choctaw, OK; a son William C. (Patty) Mitchell of New Castle; one brother, Charles E. Stacy, of Shawnee, OK and an adopted brother, Frankee Lee Stacy of Wagoner, OK; a sister, Deena (Dale) Taylor of Hollis, Alaska; 7 grandchildren, Kim, Will, Byron, Shawn, Tami, Chuckie and Marci; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Deloris Fay Jean; and one brother, Evert "Bub" Stacy, Jr. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 10, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A funeral service will not be held at this time. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery.
