Dorothy J. Burdett, 93, of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of April 29, 2010 at the Golden Hill Nursing Home.Dorothy was born in Hubbard, OH on February 12, 1917 to the late Earnest L. and Edna Jones Neyman. She graduated from Shenango High School and soon after married William M. Burdett on June 12, 1935. He survives. Mrs. Burdett was primarily a homemaker for her husband and two children. Dorothy was an active member of the Eagles #455 for over 70 years. She was also an avid bowler and loved knitting, crocheting, and making Sunday and holiday dinners for her family.Dorothy is survived by her husband; one son and two daughters-in-law, Jerry and Delores Burdett of Carlisle, PA, and Joanne Burdett of New Castle; four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Donald W. Burdett; two brothers, Russell and Floyd (Fuzz) Neyman; two sisters, Viola Fruehstorfer and Genevieve Tanner.Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 2, 2010, from 6-9 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Rd.Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 3, 2010, at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. The Rev. Andrew Jillson will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
