Dorothy M. Fleischer Patterson, 96, of New Castle, passed away on March 11th, 2026, at UPMC Jameson Hospital.

Dorothy was born on April 14, 1929, in New Castle, to the late George and Martha Kreusel Fleischer. She married Russell C. Patterson on Nov. 23, 1961. Russell preceded her in passing.

Mrs. Patterson was a 1948 graduate of New Castle High School. She worked at the candy counter of the New Castle G.C. Murphy & Co. before dedicating herself to being a homemaker for her husband and children. Dorothy had many interests such as sewing, gardening, crossword puzzles and word searches. Mrs. Patterson loved her fruit trees, seasonal artificial flower bouquets, Western books, TV shows and movies, making house plans and browsing through her cookbooks for recipes and baking inspirations. She made a tremendous real meringue lemon pie, brown sugar tapioca and chocolate fudge. Dorothy religiously prepared popcorn every night, which she very rarely shared. Mrs. Patterson was a former member of 3rd United Presbyterian Church. Dorothy had an overwhelming faith in God.

Mrs. Patterson is survived by her daughter Winfield (Vicki) Gilpin; one son, John R. Patterson and one granddaughter, Jenise Brown(Jason Pampena).

In addition to her husband, Dorothy was the last living member of her family. She was preceded in passing by her 5 brothers, Geroge, Karl, Albert, Paul and Francis Fleischer; her sister, Sophia Fleischer and a son-in-law, Russell Lee Brown.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no services held but, when you think of her, thank God for every good remembrance of her.
