Dorothy H. Getty, 89, of 3514 Meadowview Blvd, New Castle, passed away the morning of November 14, 2013 at Jameson Care Center. Born February 20, 1924 in Wellsville, Ohio, she was the daughter of Pat and Helen Reed Gibson. She was preceded in death on November 21, 2009 by her husband of 67 years, George H. Getty, whom she married September 3, 1942. Dorothy was a graduate of New Castle High School. She worked along side her husband for Seavy's Studio. She was a member of Wimodausis, Eastern Star, and the New Castle Women's Club. Dorothy was past president of Jameson Guild and was a volunteer in the hostess shop for over 20 years. In addition to enjoying bridge, she was an avid reader and a dog lover. She was a member of Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church. Survivors include one son and his wife, Thomas P. and Linda Getty, of Drexel Hill, PA; two grandsons and their wives, Doug and Laura Getty of Wayne, PA, and Jeff and Dorothy Getty of Sewickley, PA; and six great-grandchildren, Julia, Catherine, Jaimee, Jill, Susanna and Margaret. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2013, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc, 2429 Wilmington Road. A funeral service will take place on Sunday, November 17, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home and will be officiated by Rev. Chris Weichman. Burial will be in Fair Oaks Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lawrence County Humane Society, P.O.
