Obituary

Dorothy Evelyn Haswell, age 98, of Wesley Chapel, FL, formerly of New Castle, PA, passed away the morning of July 7, 2022, at TerraBella in Southern Pines, NC. Born February 9, 1924, in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late George B. and Ethel (Tucker) Pisor, Sr. After graduating from New Castle High School, Dorothy was employed by Shenango Pottery. On Oct. 8, 1943, she married Donald H. Haswell, her beloved husband of 63 years. Donald preceded her in death on Oct 30, 2006. Dot and Don lived in Ellwood City PA for over 50 years where Dot volunteered as a 4H and Girl Scout leader. For several years, she was a self-employed beautician. Dot enjoyed painting, knitting, and sewing, but what gave her the most joy in life was spending time with her family. Survivors include two sons, D. Gregory (Georganne) Haswell of Pinehurst, NC and Brent (Kathleen) Haswell of Wesley Chapel, FL; a sister, Maxine Mallary of New Castle, PA; six grandchildren, Tressa, Melissa, Laura, Amanda, Heather and Geoffrey and six great-grandchildren, Austin, Preston, Ryker, Haley, Sarah, and Sydney. In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by one brother, George B. Pisor, Jr., and five sisters, Shirley Bailey, Jean Wiley, Gerry Brua, LaVerne Robinson, and Joanne Mitcheltree. Burial will be at Oak Park Cemetery in New Castle, PA. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 15, 2022, from 10:00am to 11:00am with a Service to follow at 11:00 am, at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
