Dorothy "Jean" Moyer, 78, of Shenango Township, passed away the night of September 1, 2020 at The Grove at New Castle. Born October 30, 1941 in Ellwood City, PA she was the daughter of Curtis Glenn Brown and Elva J. (Vogler) Brown. Jean was preceded in death by her first husband, H. James Irvine. She subsequently married Edward H. Moyer who passed away January 19, 2017 after 35 years of marriage. A graduate of Shenango High School in 1959, Jean was employed with Sears, Universal Rundle and Western and Southern Life Insurance Co. until owning her own craft shop. She was a member of Wimodausis and Eastern Star and a volunteer in the Jameson Hospital Hostess Shop. Jean will always be remembered as a devoted grandmother. She was a member of Shenango Christian Church. She is survived by one son, Robert (Lynn) Irvine of New Castle; one daughter, Cathy (Jeff) Filer of New Castle; a step-daughter, Rhonda (Pat) Aluisa of New Castle; two brothers, William Brown of St. Petersburg, Florida and James E. Brown of Harmony, PA; 8 grandchildren, Jennifer Irvine, Jacquelyn Irvine-VanDommelen and her husband Adam VanDommelen, Patsy Aluisa, Michelle Aluisa, Joshua Reigh and his wife Breanna Reigh, Amber Reigh and her fiancé David Damato, Alison Filer, and Jessica Damato; 3 great-grandchildren and a special niece Susan Dietrich. In addition to her parents and both husbands, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Dianna Brenneman and Glenda K. Nicklas. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 8, from 10:00-12:00 at Harmony Baptist Church, 4103 Ellwood Road, New Castle. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday immediately following visitation at 12:00 PM. Visitors are asked to adhere to CDC guidelines regarding wearing face masks and practicing social distancing. Burial will be in Harmony Baptist Cemetery.
