Dorothy I. Latshaw, age 98, of New Castle, passed away the morning of December 30, 2019, at Quality Life Services – Grove City.
Born July 17, 1921, in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Grover C. & Priscilla (Curry) Moon. On May 2, 1944, she married Harold E. Latshaw. He preceded her in death on September 24, 1967.
Dorothy graduated in January of 1939 from New Castle High School. She was employed for 10 years as the payroll clerk at Pennsylvania Engineering Company and for 23 years with First National Bank of Lawrence County, now Huntington Bank. Dorothy was a quiet, kind-hearted person who loved people and was very devoted to her family and for many, many years, until her death, was a faithful supporter of the City Rescue Mission, to help people less fortunate.
She gave her time to many organizations. She was a charter member of National Secretaries Association, past matron of the Order of Eastern Star - Chapter #105, Order of White Shrine of Jerusalem - Martha Shrine #14, Woman's Club of New Castle, Wimodausis, past Mother Advisor of International order of Rainbow For Girls, Past Grand Counselor for PA Auxiliary United Commercial Travelers of America and was a life member of Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church, where she served as deacon, was a member of Irvine Bible Class and Primetimers.
Dorothy is survived by one son, Gregory (Susan) Latshaw of Pittsburgh, PA; daughter Sherri Latshaw of Sandy Lake, PA; two grandsons, Gregory (Candice) Latshaw of Pittsburgh, PA and Michael Latshaw of New York City; two great-grandchildren, Roslyn and Lincoln, and two nieces Lori Nix and Terri Stoner.
Along with her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by one brother Donald Moon.
Visitation will be held on Thurs. Jan 2nd, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A service will follow immediately after visitation at 1:00 PM.
Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery.
