Dorothy R. McElwain, 93, of Pittsburgh, passed away the morning of February 12, 2021 at Baptist Homes in Pittsburgh. Born June 16, 1927, she was the daughter of Colonel Arthur Ferree and Nancy Rebecca (Book) Ferree. She was preceded in death on January 29, 2003 by her husband of 56 years, Rev. James Glen McElwain, whom she married March 6, 1946. In addition to raising their five children, she supported her husband as he ministered to several churches over his lifetime. Dorothy loved playing the organ, puzzles, and reading. She is survived by three daughters, Patricia (Geoffrey) Treanor of Auckland, New Zealand, Sarah (Patrick) Coyne of Bethel Park, PA and Ruth Aiello of Palmyra, PA; two sons, James (Janet) McElwain of Latrobe, PA, and Robert (Gwen) McElwain of Jeannette, PA; fourteen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Ferree. Services will be private for the family. Dorothy will be laid to rest by her husband in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Arrangements are by the R.
