Douglas E. Kaufman, 47, of New Wilmington, passed away the morning of May 2, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Youngstown, OH. Born on May 19, 1968 in New Castle, he was a son of Harry and Bonnie Hiler Kaufman. A 1986 graduate of New Wilmington High School, Douglas then attended Williamsport Area Community College where he studied service and heavy equipment operation. He was employed by Graziani Construction as a heavy equipment operator. He also farmed along with his father. He enjoyed deer hunting with a bow and a rifle. Besides his father, Douglas is survived by one brother, Jeffrey A. (Rachel) Kaufman of New Castle; two sisters, Jodi L. (Greg) Fiedler of Huntington, IN and Janet L. (Alan) Gittings of Poland, OH; four nephews, Todd, Shane, Justin and Ryan; two nieces, Jami and Amanda; and two great nephews. Preceding him in death is his mother and his maternal and paternal grandparents. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm and on Friday from 10-11 am at R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road. The funeral service will take place immediately following visitation at 11 am Friday with Pastor Gary DeWitt of New Hope Wesleyan Church officiating.
