Longtime New Castle obstetrician Dr. William R. Wright, 92, passed away the evening of March 31, 2020 at Shenango on the Green in New Wilmington. Born February 17, 1928 in Lewistown, PA, he was a son of Esther Keppner Wright who preceded him in death. He was married for 40 years to Georgia Lee Wright from 1955-1995 until her passing. He subsequently married Patricia Kerr Wright who survives. He served his country in the US Navy from 1954-1957. Dr. Wright earned his degree in pre-med and obtained his medical certification while attending Penn State University, completing his residency at the University of Pittsburgh. He established his practice in New Castle shortly afterwards and continued practicing until his retirement. William was a member of the Masons and the Eintracht Singing Society. He had a profound love of music and dance and often was heard singing in the operating room. He also enjoyed tennis, reading and skiing and was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church. In addition to his wife Patricia, he is survived by one son, Douglas Wright (Sally) of New Hope, PA; one daughter, Deborah Wright Hudak (Mark) of Orlando, Florida; and four grandchildren, Courtney Hudak, Caitlin Hudak, Ben Wright and Connor Wright. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; first wife Georgia; two sisters, Mary Catherine Wright and Gladys Fisher; and one brother, Aaron Wright. Due to the unfortunate health crisis within our country, the family will announce a memorial service to honor Dr. Wright at a later date.
