Duwayne J. Rice, Sr., 69, of New Castle, passed away surrounded by his loving family the afternoon of July 27, 2015 at Poland Hospice House. Born April 21, 1946 in New Castle, he was a son of Robert Franklin and Mary Spittle Rice. Duwayne was stationed in Germany with the National Guard during the Vietnam War. He was employed as a lithographer with Youngstown Lithographing Company. A member of Trinity Episcopal Church, his most enjoyable times were spent with his family and grandchildren. He is survived by one son, Duwayne J. (Kathy) Rice, Jr. of Transfer, Pa.; one daughter, Michele Rice of New Castle; two brothers, William Rice of New Castle and Frank Rice of New Wilmington; one sister, Cathy Rice of Florida; four grandchildren, Nick Reiter, Gabriella Rice, Evie Chill and Brenden Rice; and one great grandson, Ryan Reiter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by one son, Douglas J. Rice. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road. A Memorial Service will take place immediately following visitation Thursday at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev.
