Earl L. Fobes, 91, of Falls Ave. passed away the evening of March 13, 2014 at Jameson Care Center.Born July 13, 1922, he was the son of James O. and Dorothy Knight Fobes.Earl married Josephine M. Derr Fobes in 1946. She preceded him in death.He served in the U.S. Army during WWII at the Battle of the Bulge and the European Theatre.Earl was a self employed farmer, a custodian for the Laurel School District and retired from Johnson Bronze in 1969.He enjoyed farming and hunting.Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Lynn Fobes of New Castle, Floyd and Francis Fobes of Horatio, SC; three sisters, Verna Shoaff, Vera McCart and Annie McCurdy, all of New Castle; four grandchildren, David Fobes, Sara Fobes, Amy Perrault and Mark Fobes; four great grandchildren, Conor Fobes, Laura Dison, Tiffany Perrault, and Brett Fobes; and four step grandchildren, Ann Woodruff, Barbara Smith, Sue Moree and Bill Morree.In addition to his parents, and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James Fobes and Raymond Fobes; and three sisters, Dora Mae Kuhn, Irene Fobes Chuey and Marie Cummins.Visitation will be Wednesday, March 19, 2014, from 5-8 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 20, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. John Yergan will officiate.Burial will be at Castle View Gardens.
